Too slow when copying files?

July 11th, 2010 Comments off

Too slow to copy files The problem is caused by either the user’s PC not supported a USB 2.0 port or
the product not being connected to a USB 2.0 port.

When connected to a USB 1.1, it has a transmission speed of about 1 MB/s which is
very slow.

To solve the problem:

  • Install a USB 2.0 driver
  • Connect to a different port
  • Purchase and use a separate port if the PC is not equipped with a USB 2.0 port.

Also the speed can be decreased when using a USB 1.1 cable that is not shielded.
Use the…

Tape Data Recovery Server and Personal Computer Tape Backup systems using 4mm DAT, Travan, Exabyte 8mm, LTO and the various QIC formats are popular and necessary to safeguard your data.

However, when these tapes fail, the situation is normally catastrophic as these tapes were often the only remaining repository of the data. Popular backup software such as Legato’s Networker, Cheyenne ArcServe, Veritas BackupExec, Microsoft NTBackup, Dantz Retrospect plus the UNIX tar and cpio utilities (and many more) all use different internal formats.

Causes of Tape Failure and Data Loss

  • Corruption – operational error, mishandling of the tape or accidental overwrites

Successful data recovery requires an intimate understanding of all of the technical details of modern data storage media, operat¬ing systems and file systems.
